Ahlmeyer, Pullis and Stiles Get Gold

 

Competing for the Morris County Swim Club, Matt Ahlmeyer of Morris Plains and Garrett Pullis and Jessica Stiles of Denville earned Gold times at the Newark Distance Festival this past weekend. Gold times qualify the swimmers for the NJ Swimming Long Course Junior Olympics at Rutgers University July 28-30. Long Course meets are held at 50m pool facilites.

 

Ahlymeyer swam to a Gold time in the M11&O 200 Fly in 3:09.09, beating his old time by 3.81 seconds. He also improved his 100 Free, to 1:17.39. Both events were 3rd Place finishes.

 

Pullis made two Gold times, swimming in 1:07.55 in the M11&O 100 Free and 200 Back in 2:56.64. The 200 Back was a 3rd Place finish and Pullis also swam to a 2nd Place in the 100 Back.

 

Stiles earned Gold swimming to a new Best Time of 36.66 in the W10&U 50 Free, improving her time by .37. She also improved times in the 50 Back to 46.14 and 100 Free to 1:26.00. Stiles finished in 2nd, 1st and 3rd, respectively, in the events.

 

Also from Denville, Brian Stiles swam to a personal best in the M11&O 100 Free in 1:15.65, an improvement of 1.42, for a 5th Place finish. Nicole Harris set a new mark of 1:20.08 in the W11&O 100 Back, an improvement of .39 and a 3rd Place finish.

 

Courtney Good of Lake Forest also competed for the MCSC, finishing the W11&O 100 Breast in 5th Place, 200 Breast in 7th Place and 100 Back in 6th Place.

 

The six MCSC swimmers earned 8 Top 3 finishes in 17 entered events. The Newark Distance Festival was held at the JFK Recreation Center, the largest indoor/outdoor aquatic center in New Jersey and was hosted by the Newark Dolphins and Jersey Gators.

 

The Morris County Swim Club is a year-round NJ Swimming / USA Swimming Club team but also has a variety of short-length programs available for competitive swimmers ages 6 – 19. You can obtain additional MCSC information at MCSCNJ.COM.
