Garrett Pullis
swam to 5 Zone qualifying times at the NJ Swimming Long Course Junior
Olympics. Zone times qualify the swimmer for the USA Swimming Eastern
Zone Long Course Championships in Buffalo NY, August 9-12th.
Competing for the
Morris County Swim Club, Pullis of Denville, improved in 6 of 9
events at the JO’s while earning his 5 Zone times. He improved by
2.21 seconds in the M11-12 100 Free to 1:05.12, 8.34 in the 400 Free
to 5:00.84, 1.68 in the 100 Fly to 1:14.16, .86 in the 50 Free to
29.68, 3.86 in the 200IM to 2:44.62 and .82 in the 50 Fly to 33.16.
Five other MCSC
athletes competed at the JO’s with Pullis.
From Morris
Plans, Matt Ahlmeyer competed in the M11-12 200 Fly and 200 Back.
Ahlmeyer swam to a Best Time in the backstroke, finishing 4.08 better
to a time of 2:55.11.
From Denville,
Nicole Harris competed in 6 events and improved her time in the
W11-12 50 Back to finish in 37.02. Her other events were the 100 &
200 Free, 100 & 200 Back and the 200IM. Jessica Stiles competed
in the W10&U 50 Free, finishing in 37.72. Brother Brian dropped
8.81 seconds as he finished in 2:59.91 for the M11-12 200 Back.
Stiles also swam to a 33.16 in a 50 Free, as part of the first leg of
the M11-12 200 Free Relay. Joining Stiles, Pullis and Ahlmeyer was
Ryan Wyer of Montville. The boys finished in 2:12.42 beating their
seedtime by 3.17 seconds.
The Junior
Olympics were held at Rutgers University July 28-30 and were attended
by 36 New Jersey Swim Clubs. Long Course meets are held at 50m pool
